OBX Surfing & SUP

We specialize in providing a safe and friendly environment for first timers and beginners to learn how to surf or stand up paddleboard. All you need is your bathing suit and some sunscreen. We provide all the equipment you need.

Lessons are available year round, even in the winter! Private lessons are available in the off season and wet suits are included in the price of the lesson.

all surf students must already know how to swim. Ages 6 and up can learn (6 year olds must take private instruction)

SUP Lessons for kids 6 - 12 years old are available on a limited basis or via Private (and Group Private Lessons)

RODANTHE SURF LESSONS

Group Private Surf Lesson - Rodanthe

Book a private surf lesson for a group of 4 or more people. Student to instructor ratio is kept at maximum to 5:1 ratio and no other outside students will be included in this lesson.

remember to change containers to a multiple of 5 depending on how many instructors are required.
1-5 students = 1 instructor, so 5 containers
6-10 students = 2 instructors, so 10 containers

Camps & Clinics

3-Day Kids Surf Camp - Central

3-Day Surf Camps available in Nags Head this summer!
Let your kids spend 3 fun-filled mornings of surf lessons and other fun beach activities. Healthy snacks and drinks will be provided (granola bars, bananas, waters, juices, etc), and an end of session lunch will be included for all participants on the last day. Shade will be provided with beach tents. Parents are welcome to drop off their kids or stay and watch.

Surf Lessons

Sanderling Surf Lessons

Learn the fundamentals of surfing. We discuss the importance of ocean safety, how to identify rip currents, and how to read ocean conditions. We warm up with some surf specific stretches. Then we practice standing up on the board on the beach before we get in the water. After that it's into the ocean to learn how to paddle properly and catch your first wave. There is over an hour of hands on practice in the water. Surfboard and leash are provided.
