Morningside: A Kitty Hawk Kites Flight Park

Intro Hang Gliding Lesson

This 3-4 hour lesson begins with a presentation of history, flight principles, and safety considerations relevant to beginning hang gliding. After assisting in setup and pre-flight procedures, we begin level ground training. Ground-handling instruction progresses to a gradual ascent of the training slope. Several attempts at man’s oldest dream mark the end of this very enjoyable beginning of your personal quest for flight. Lesson begin at 9 am each day 7 days a week. Weather to look for is light winds out of the north west through south west.

Weekend Intro Hang Gliding Package

This course is for our weekend visitors who want more flight experience. A second day of flight training is added to the introductory lesson. Instruction is aimed at developing safe, correct procedure through repeated flights from the training slope. Proper takeoffs, relaxed flying style, and good stand-up landings are the goals for fledgling flyers. This is 2 lessons (6 hours) of instruction.

2000' Tandem Hang Gliding Lesson

This tandem flight reaches altitudes of 2000 ft. The length of a flight is 10-15 minutes depending on conditions. The lesson consists of explanatory “in-flight” instruction and some “hands-on” flying if conditions permit. Most favorable weather for flights is in the early morning or late afternoon. Mid day conditions can be more active and therefore more turbulent. We will postpone, and resume flying during the day according to the conditions. You must be at least 14 to fly and we have even had passengers as old as 96 h at Morningside! The weight limit is max 225lbs.

3500' Tandem Hang Gliding Lesson

This tandem flight reaches altitudes of at least 3500 feet. The length of a flight lasts 20-25 minutes depending on conditions. The lesson consists of explanatory “in-flight” instruction and some “hands-on” flying if conditions permit. Most favorable weather for flights is in the early morning or late afternoon. Mid day conditions can be more active and therefore more turbulent. We will postpone, and resume flying during the day according to the conditions. Ages 10 to 96 have flown tandem at Morningside and the weight limit is max 225lbs.

Mile High Tandem Hang Gliding Lesson

This tandem flight reaches an altitude of at least 5280 feet. The length of a flight can last 30-40 minutes depending on conditions. The lesson consists of explanatory “in-flight” instruction and some “hands-on” flying if conditions permit. Most favorable weather for flights is in the early morning or late afternoon. Mid day conditions can be more active and therefore more turbulent. We will postpone, and resume flying during the day according to the conditions. Ages 10 to 96 have flown tandem at Morningside and the weight limit is max 200lbs.

H1 Certification

This is a comprehensive HANG GLIDING COURSE consisting of six full lessons. This course contains the classroom and flight requirements necessary to acquire the skills toward a USHPA H1 rating. Upon completion students will generally have acquired the basic minimum requirements to understand how and when to fly hang gliders as entry-level pilots. Completion of the course does not intend to qualify the student as an advanced pilot. Novice training is only the basic understanding of hang glider flight and how to proceed safely as a beginner pilot.

This is a comprehensive HANG GLIDING course contains the classroom and flight requirements necessary to acquire the skills toward a USHPA H2 rating. Upon completion students will generally have recieved the required information to understand how and when to fly hang gliders as a novice to intermediate pilot. This course is meant to be taken by those who already have a H1 rating or are finishing the H1 certification course.

This is a four-hour introduction to PARAGLIDING. Students progress from a one-hour classroom presentation to canopy familiarization and launch practice on flat ground. Gradual progress is made until launches result in flight attempts from the grass-training slope.

Upon completion students will generally have acquired the basic minimum requirements to understand how and when to fly paragliders as entry-level pilots. Completion of the course does not intend to qualify the student as an advanced pilot, but it does clear the student to fly from P2 designated mountain sites.

PPG Training Program

Complete PPG program for Beginners

This course is an intensive training program that expounds on the USPPA requirements for PPG2 training or Solo Flying. No previous flying experience is required. Graduates of this program will have the skills and training to fly solo and test for their PPG2 Rating. This comprehensive program requires a Minimum of 7 consecutive days of attendance at our school and encourages as well as provides for up to 14 days of training and 40 flights* on our equipment. Students will take part in several structured step by step modules while following along and documenting their progression in our workbook. All equipment is provided for this course**

SUPERMAN Zip Line Tour

This is the ultimate zip line experience consisting of our Mountain Top Tour and our Canyon Crossing zip lines with a total of seven zip lines and two suspension bridges, one of which is over 50' up in the tree tops! The Canyon Crossing Zip Lines add over one half mile of additional long, fast Zips to the Mountain Top Tour - the longest of these is almost 4 football fields long! You will fly over Morningside Canyon from tree to tree looking down on a small mountain stream and finish the tour with an exciting zip from the tree tops to the ground. You will feel like Superman zipping on this tour!

Mountain Top Zip Line Tour

This is a great introduction to zip lining. It consists of 4 zip lines (about a football fields length), 2 suspension bridges and a Bermuda Bridge that must be crossed in the canopy. This adventure takes between 45 minutes to 1 hour to complete.

1 Night - Campsite Rental

$10 a night per person to stay in any of our different campsites located on the back side of the hill. Each campsite has a fire pit. There are portable toilets in or near the campsites. Restrooms with showers are located below at the hangar. There is also a community kitchen with refrigerator, microwave and grill next to the hangar.
